Terms of Use

Terms governing use of Darak services and the Darak Smart Home Alexa integration.

Last updated: October 18, 2026
Using Darak responsibly

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Darak, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Darak service

Darak is a managed smart-home service that can connect compatible devices and services and may provide integrations such as Amazon Alexa. Available functionality depends on your devices, configured integrations, network and internet availability, and supported third-party services.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for providing accurate account information, safeguarding your credentials, and activity under your account. Promptly report suspected unauthorized use to Darak. You must not share access in a way that defeats account or tenant protections.

4. Smart-home devices

Most third-party smart-home hardware used with Darak is not manufactured by Darak. Third-party devices and integrations may be governed by separate terms, require separate accounts, become unavailable, change their APIs or features, or experience outages. Compatibility at one time does not guarantee permanent compatibility.

5. Amazon Alexa

The Darak Smart Home Alexa integration is optional and requires you to link an authorized Darak account. Alexa and related Amazon services are provided by Amazon, and Amazon’s terms and privacy policies also apply to your use of Alexa.

Darak is not Amazon and is not sponsored or endorsed by Amazon. Successful commands depend on the availability of Alexa, network connectivity, Darak, your Darak smart-home environment, relevant third-party services, and the target device.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use Darak to:

  • violate law or another person’s rights;
  • access an account, tenant, device, or system without authorization;
  • bypass or attempt to bypass account, credential, or tenant-isolation controls;
  • abuse APIs, overload, disrupt, or interfere with service operation;
  • create malicious automation or compromise another customer’s systems; or
  • reverse engineer protected parts of the service where that restriction is legally enforceable, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits.

7. Customer responsibility

You remain responsible for safe installation and use of connected hardware, device configuration, checking automation behavior, and maintaining appropriate physical safety and security measures. You must have authority to control the connected premises and devices and to authorize other users who receive access.

8. Not a life-safety or emergency service

Darak and Alexa integrations must not be relied on as the sole means for emergency communications, life-safety systems, medical emergencies, fire protection, critical security, or access where failure could cause serious injury or property damage.

Maintain appropriate independent and manual safeguards, including functioning safety equipment and a way to operate critical devices without Darak or Alexa.

8a. Voice control of security devices

Locks, garage doors, gates, door-type covers, non-water valves, and groups that contain any of them cannot be controlled by voice unless you switch voice control on for each device yourself. When you do, Darak asks for a spoken confirmation before it unlocks or opens one of these devices. Speech recognition can mishear words, can mistake who is speaking, and can respond to people or audio near your voice device. You are responsible for deciding which devices to enable, for who can speak to your voice devices, and for keeping a separate manual way to secure and operate these devices. To the extent permitted by law, Darak is not liable for any loss or damage caused by a voice command that was misheard, given by someone other than you, or carried out after confirmation. You can switch voice control off for any device at any time on the Voice devices page.

9. Service availability

Darak aims to provide a reliable service but does not guarantee continuous or uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, security work, provider outages, internet or power failures, third-party changes, and physical device failures can delay or prevent operation.

10. Changes to the service

Darak may improve, modify, replace, limit, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary, including for security, reliability, provider changes, or service development. Darak does not promise permanent compatibility with every device, integration, or provider.

11. Fees

If paid plans or services apply, the relevant pricing, billing schedule, renewal, and cancellation terms will be communicated separately before purchase or subscription. The Darak Smart Home Alexa skill does not provide Alexa purchase functionality.

12. Privacy

The Darak Privacy Policy explains how Darak processes information, including information used by the Alexa integration.

13. Intellectual property

Darak branding, software, and site content belong to Darak or its licensors, as applicable. Third-party trademarks and product names belong to their respective owners. Amazon, Alexa, and other third-party names remain the property of their respective owners, and their appearance does not imply affiliation or endorsement.

14. Suspension and termination

Darak may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of misuse, a security threat, a violation of these Terms, non-payment of an applicable agreed fee, or a legal requirement. Users may stop using the service, unlink Alexa, and request account deletion by contacting Darak. Suspension or termination may make connected features unavailable.

15. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Darak is provided on an “as available” basis. Darak does not warrant that every device, command, automation, integration, or third-party service will always operate without delay or error. Smart-home behavior depends on multiple networks, services, software components, and physical devices outside Darak’s complete control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Darak will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of, or inability to use, the service. Darak’s responsibility for direct loss will be limited to loss that was reasonably foreseeable and directly caused by Darak’s breach.

These limitations do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited, including any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

17. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to reimburse Darak for reasonable losses, claims, and costs arising directly from your unlawful misuse of the service, unauthorized control of premises or devices, or material violation of these Terms. This does not require you to cover losses caused by Darak’s own breach or misconduct.

18. Changes to these Terms

Darak may update these Terms when the service, third-party integrations, or legal requirements change. We will update the “Last updated” date when changes are made and provide any additional notice required by applicable law. Your continued use after updated Terms take effect means you accept them, to the extent permitted by law.

19. Contact
